Positioned within the
boundaries of Bowthorn Station, Kingfisher Camp is the gateway to the
marvellous scenic sights of the Western Gulf Savannah.
Kingfisher Camp is a grassed and shaded camping ground, situated on an island in the
channels of the Nicholson River. The picturesque waterhole is five
kilometres long. Considerable effort and expense is put into the maintenance
of the lawns to make it a pleasant environment for campers. Each campsite
has a water tap and fireplace. A modern ablution block with laundry area
is provided with hot water via a donkey hot water system.
Visitors can fish, spot a freshwater
crocodile, bird watch, bushwalk, explore the gorge or simply
relax on the shady riverbank or the pleasant surroundings of the
campground.
